Just a Walk in the Sun tells the story of Robert Stanley Price, an infantry soldier at the sharp end of the invasion, on the front line with the 1st Herefordshire Regiment pushing through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany: fighting to the very end of the second world war.

About the Author

Robert Stanley Price (1925–2016)

Robert Stanley Price was born on the 21st January 1925 at his father’s home in Cemetery Road, Lye.After moving to a new home in Ludgbridge Brook in 1928, known locally as ‘down the spout’, he was educated at Valley Road Secondary Modern, Lye. He left school at Easter 1939 aged 14 years to start work at the Co-op, Market Street, Stourbridge.His Father, Stanley Price, was a shoemaker and had a small cobblers shop on Lye Cross in the 1930s. Mother Jennie, nee Gauden, came from Bromley Street, Lye. Her elder brother, Councillor James Gauden was the Mayor of Stourbridge in 1953.Robert passed away peacefully in September 2016, aged 91. This website and his works are managed by his grandson, Jordan Harper.
